Galway Harbour Company is delighted to announce the final plans of our proposed new port. The publication of the plans form part of our ongoing public consultation programme. It is our expectation that the proposed development will create not just a new port but also allow for the evolution of a new Galway Harbour Village in the old port area. We envisage this area as an extension of our existing vibrant and bustling medievil city.
The creation of the new port will also allow us to change the way we currently do business and to open up new markets heretofore not attainable due to the limitations of the old port. We hope to future proof the economic and social contribution that the Port can continue to make to Galway and its surrounding hinterland. The City of Galway's relationship with the sea is a long-standing and mutually beneficial one. We are proud of our maritime history and this is where we draw our inspiration from. The future of the new port is very much a combination of traditional port activity but significantly linked to marine leisure.
